Kelly Dry Ice offers dry ice products to Pittsburgh, PA and the surrounding areas. If you’re handling dry ice for the first time, please see our safety instruction below and read about additional uses for dry ice that you may not know about.

Additional Uses For Dry Ice Include:

Emergency Refrigeration and Power Outages – Use dry ice to maintain refrigerator and/or freezer while power is out. The right amount of dry ice can maintain the cold for up to three days.

Transporting refreshments for picnics and vacation – With dry ice, you can take Popsicles, ice cream or other refrigerated items on your outings. Place dry ice in bottom of your cooler, cover it with a cotton towel, cardboard, or paper (newspaper works well), then place food and beverages on top.

Camping, Hunting, Fishing, Tailgating, Boating, etc - Use dry ice to keep food and beverages cold all day without the water mess found with regular ice. You can use dry ice to bring game or fish home frozen, or preserve your trophy until you take to your taxidermist.

Halloween – Place dry ice in a cauldron or bucket (metal or plastic), then add hot water to create fog for your Halloween party, or display.

Educational – Teachers use dry ice for science experiments and demonstrations.

Ice Cream Socials – Dry ice will keep ice cream frozen without the need for electricity.

Important Tips For Dry Ice Safety:

Use cotton gloves or towels when handling dry ice. Dry ice is -109º F and can cause injury similar to a burn.

Store dry ice in an insulated container, but not in an airtight container. Airtight containers may explode as dry ice converts to CO2 gas.

Use dry ice in a well ventilated area. When dry ice sublimates, it gives off CO2 and can cause suffocation. Do not store where people sleep.

Children should be supervised when using dry ice. Dry ice is harmful if eaten or swallowed.

Tip to Make Dry Ice Last Longer: Keep dry ice insulated by using a cooler and add newspaper, paper bags, or cotton towel to cover ice. This will help lengthen the life of the dry ice.
